In my last blog post, Serendipity, I proclaimed that “I’m back baby”. But what does that even mean? Where am I headed, where am I going, what am I evening doing? Without vision and without clarity, and some divine guidance from the Universe, one’s path to happiness can be easily tripped up by the distractions of our everyday lives. If you’ve been following my journey through my awakening, you’d know that I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions. Sure, setting life-changing goals with resolutions may work for some people, but for me, not so much. To me, goals are defined by hitting the hard numbers and reaching the objective. Goals, per se, are typically driven by setting the bar high, and if you don’t meet that said objective, you are thought to have failed. But wait; there’s always next year! Don’t get me wrong, goals aren’t bad. Some certainly have a place in our lives, but there is more to achieving success than setting and meeting “Goals” or making resolutions. So, what do I do to find clarity and guidance in my life?… It’s called a vision board.
If you personally have never done a vision board, or aren’t sure how they work, let me enlighten you. It’s amazing, and quite possibly, a life-changing journey to finding peace, prosperity, and purpose in your life. You can refer to the general process in a past blog called “Vision…” to get some insight into the process. However, there are also many books, spiritual coaches, and wellness events to help you through creating a vision board. If you are already familiar with vision boards, visioning, or the law of attraction, then you know the power of a vision board and daily manifesting. I just happen to be lucky enough to be married to someone who runs vision board workshops, and HeARTful classes and retreats. Shameless plug for “Surely” and her business, a la cART.
Rather than New Year’s Resolutions, the intentions you set to create your vision board don’t have to be annual or set in stone goals. But rather, they should be dreams, desires, feelings, and they can be timeless, limitless, and ever-evolving. In fact, the last time I updated my board was in March of 2019 and it’s amazing how much of my board had been fulfilled, and some of the intentions that I had set have now become a way of life. Some, however, didn’t always come to meet my full intentions. For one, thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail, which I bonked out on. Nevertheless, the experience to actually attempt a thru-hike was nothing short of amazing, freeing, fulfilling, and provided heart-filled contentment. I’m so blessed that I even had the opportunity, so, Thank You Vision Board, and Thank You Universe. As I now take the time to reflect back on my vision board of 2019, it was apparent to me that an update was needed.
So what does “I’m back baby” really mean to me? It means that it is time to reset some of my intentions for the upcoming year, and the following years to come. While some of my intentions changed, some remained, some simply got refocused, and some were left alone as a reminder for further growth or refreshed in a way so that they become a daily manifestation. Of course, a few new intentions, dreams, and desires were added, as my life shifts and shapes along this magical journey to fulfill a purposeful life. As for hiking, a few bucket list hikes were added, and one thing for sure, Springer Mountain here I come, #AT2021! I’ll say it again, a vision board will change your life, you just have to be open to Be_again!
Love your vision board! Great post…as usual!
